Citizen Kane

  Movie Poster

In my opinion Citizen Kane is one of the best movies ever made. It won the academy award for the best writing and was nominated for nine others. Orson Wells succeeded in producing, co-writing , directing and acting a the same time. Citizen Kane is considered a "film a clef" since it camouflages the biography of wealthy William Randolph Hearst under the fictive character of Charles Foster Kane.

  Movie Trailer

The two hours movie revolves around one single puzzling word muttered by Kane before his death: Rosebud. The enigma of the movie is concentrated in this puzzling word. Rosebud is considered by itself a quote and ranked as the 17th most memorable movie quote of all time by AFI (American Film  Institute).

The filming techniques are original given the era it was shot and the common techniques used back then. The scenery in the background, the use of flashback and flashforward, low angle shots, deep focus (every plane is in focus) amazingly constructed frames, shadows, use of unusual angles....

This scene is shot from the reflection of a broken glass

The movie influenced the culture in my aspects.Rosebud  was used in popular culture as an impact of this classical movie.
